Foil Postcards

Our Foil Business Cards have been one of our most popular products for years. Foil Postcards are the same finish on a much bigger canvas.

Choose gold, silver, rose gold or holographic metal foil on one side, printed full colour on both sides, on heavy 400GSM board with a velvet laminate both sides. The soft laminate against the mirror foil is what makes these cards feel expensive in the hand.

They work as event and wedding invitations, VIP and loyalty cards, gift vouchers, thank you cards, product launch announcements and premium direct mail. Three sizes: A6 (148x105mm), DL (210x99mm) and A5 (210x148mm).

There are no foil setup fees and no plate charges. The price you see is the price you pay.

The foil is applied to one side only. Print full colour on both sides, then pick the side that carries the foil.

Artwork Guidelines

Creating your own artwork or your designer asking for how to supply the files?

Details below on what we require to get you the best results!

Ensure the file is setup in CMYK colour mode
Save as 300dpi
Include 3mm bleed – For more information on artwork bleed click here.
For best results do not place any text or logos within 3mm of the edge of the artwork.
Convert all fonts to outlines
Mark the foil areas as a spot colour on page 1, and supply an editable or vector file so that layer can be extracted. Flat images cannot be used for foil.
Keep foiled elements at least 1mm thick, with at least a 1mm gap between them. Finer detail does not hold foil cleanly.
The foil is applied to one side only.

FAQs

What are Foil Postcards?

Foil Postcards are premium cards with metal foil applied to one side. They are printed full colour on both sides on heavy 400GSM board and velvet laminated on both sides, then the foil goes on last, so it stays mirror bright against a soft matte surface.

What foil colours can I choose?

Gold, silver, rose gold and holographic. Holographic is a silver based mirror foil that shifts through the rainbow spectrum as the card moves in the light. All four cost the same.

What sizes are available?

A6 (148x105mm), DL (210x99mm) and A5 (210x148mm).

Can I have foil on both sides?

No. The foil is applied to one side only. You can still print full colour on both sides, so the reverse can carry all of your details.

Are Foil Postcards suitable for invitations?

Yes. A6 and A5 are the two sizes most often used for wedding and event invitations, and the 400GSM stock is thicker than a standard invitation card. Keep in mind that the foil is a flat metallic finish, not a pressed or debossed foil stamp.

Is there a minimum order quantity?

Yes. Foil Postcards start at 250 and are available in 250, 500 and 1,000. If you need a smaller run or a larger one, ask us for a custom quote.

Can I write on the foil?

No. The velvet laminate and the foil are both non porous, so pen and ink sit on the surface rather than drying into it. If you need a panel to write on, tell us before you order and we will quote an alternative stock.

Can you match a Pantone colour to the foil?

No. Foil is a metallic material, not an ink, so it cannot be matched to a Pantone or CMYK colour. The four foils are the four we stock.

How do I set up my artwork for foil?

Supply a print ready PDF in CMYK at 300dpi with 3mm bleed, and mark the foil areas as a spot colour on page 1. It has to be an editable or vector file so the foil layer can be extracted. Keep foiled elements at least 1mm thick with a 1mm gap between them, and keep everything 3mm clear of the trim edge. The artwork guidelines tab has the full specification.

Is delivery included?

Yes. Free standard delivery is included Australia wide.

Delivery Details

Metal foil runs once a week, the same run as our foil business cards.
Orders must be finalised by 5:00pm on Tuesday. Artwork approval and payment both need to be in by then.
Orders in that run are dispatched the following Tuesday by express courier. We confirm your dispatch date when the order goes into production.
Delivery times are courier dependent and cannot be guaranteed.
